Vettori to captain both forms

Daniel Vettori will captain the Black Caps Test and One-Day teams during the upcoming tour to South Africa, New Zealand Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan announced today.

“The selectors are looking to the future and have recommended that Daniel assume captaincy of the Test team as well as the One-Day team.

“Daniel has demonstrated real leadership during his time with the Black Caps, and through his occasional performances as One-Day captain, has shown he is ready to take over captaincy of the Black Caps in all forms of the game.

“Stephen was an outstanding captain and his legacy in the role sets a high standard for Daniel. I am sure Daniel will rise to the challenge and will bring his own particular skills and style to the role. We wish him all the very best.”

Fleming captained the Black Caps Test team to 28 wins and 25 draws from 80 matches over 10 years.
