Vaughan set to be fit for Lord’s
Zac Gelman |England captain Michael Vaughan is expected to be fit for the first test against India this week despite leaving the field early in domestic game for Yorkshire.
However, Yorkshire coach Martyn Moxon allayed any fears that the England skipper would be unfit for next Thursday’s first Test at Lord’s, saying that Vaughan only suffered from a stiff back and he left the field only as a precautionary measure.
“Michael Vaughan came off with a bit of a stiffness in his back. It’s precautionary – we didn’t want to risk anything,” said the coach.
“We think it’s probably just maybe the chill wind, and his age. We hope he’ll be okay. With someone like Michael, we are not going to take any risks – so this is more precaution than it being a major, major problem.”
