Vaughan looks toward India
Liam Camps |England captain Michael Vaughan expects that he will be fit in time for his country’s upcoming tour of India. Vaughan, 31, missed all but one Test of England’s recent tour of Pakistan due to injury.
A knee injury kept him out of the first two Tests of the series and all five One Day Internationals. He returned home during the limited overs series to undergo surgery to fix the problem. Since the completion of surgery, Vaughan has not yet returned to full training, but is confident that he will be fit enough to tour.
Vaughan is one of three players whose fitness will undoubtedly determine England’s fortunes in India. Also under injury clouds are Ashley Giles and Simon Jones. Giles is recovering from a hip operation, while Jones has been out of cricket with a bone spur since the fourth Ashes Test in August of last year.
England hopes to stage a revival of sorts after defeat in Pakistan posed questions as the follow-up to an historic Ashes victory. The tour begins with on February 18th with a warmup match in Mumbai.
