Uncapped Emrit called up for WI

The West Indies selectors have sprung a surprise in their squad for the upcoming 4-match one-day international series in India. Allrounder Reyad Emrit has been included as the lone newcomer in the squad.

Emrit has modest List-A averages of 14 and 38 with the bat and ball respectively, but the Trinidad and Tobago player in the 14-man party. Returning to the West Indies team are opener Devon Smith and allrounder Darren Sammy. The selectors have identified the move as an opportunity to look at players before deciding upon the squad for the World Cup.

Ramnaresh Sarwan has not been included in the squad as he is yet to regain fitness, having sustained a foot injury on the recent West Indies tour of Pakistan.

West Indies ODI squad:
Brian Lara (captain), Ian Bradshaw, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Rayad Emrit, Chris Gayle, Runako Morton, Daren Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Marlon Samuels, Darren Sammy, Lendl Simmons, Devon Smith, Jerome Taylor.
