Tharanga suffers injury blow

Sri Lankan opener, Upul Tharanga, suffered a blow today with the news he would miss the opening two Tests against Bangladesh with a foot injury.

Tharanga, who has played in 12 Tests accumulating 675 runs during his short career, was injured when facing fast bowler Lasith Malinga during a practice session in the lead up to the first Test in Colombo.

“He is definitely out of the first Test as the doctors feel that it will take a minimum of seven days to heal. However, it appears that Tharanga will be doubtful for the second Test, too, which commences the following week,” Tharanga’s manager told the media.
