Tendulkar delighted with ranking
Zac Gelman |Sachin Tendulkar has expressed his happiness at being ranked the number one cricketer by recently retired Shane Warne.
Warne’s top 50 released in The Times created much discussion with his unconventional list, particularly his low ranking of former captain Steve Waugh.
Not many could be too unhappy with Warne’s number one choice though, Sachin Tendulkar, who has scored over 11000 Test runs and 15000 ODI runs in his illustrious career.
“You have to watch India in India truly to appreciate the pressure that Sachin Tendulkar is under every time he bats,” Warne said of Tendulkar.
“I have been lucky to get to know him off the field as well. He is quiet and humble. A great player and a great man,” he added.
Tendulkar yesterday spoke of the honour of topping the list of the great Australian leg-spinner.
“That’s special. That’s very special. I will absolutely treasure this. I’ve been around for 18 years and Shane has played against me all that time. It feels wonderful when someone of his stature appreciates your performances,” Tendulkar said.
