Sehwag shines on rainy day
Alex Crampton |After the scintilating strokeplay of the previous two days, Day Three turned out to be a bit of a damp squib.
For the small crowd that did make the journey to the ground, they were treated to a masterclass from Virender Sehwag. Sehwag added 60 to his overnight 36, finishing four short of acentury. He flashed away at anything outside off, and punished anything legside.
His unfamiliar opening partner, Rahul Dravid provided able assistance, watchfully working his way to an unbeaten 37, more than happy to let his opening partner score the bulk of the runs.
Light rain in the morning prevented play for much of the morning session, and after three overs of the afternoon session, the dimming light, despite the efforts of the floodlights, became bad enough to take the players off.
The loss of most of today has left all fingers pointing to a draw, but if Pakistan can dismiss India tomorrow, who knows?
