Sami in doubt for WI tour
Alex Feeney |Leading Pakistani paceman Mohammad Sami could miss the tour of the West Indies in May after a cyst was surgically removed from his right heel on Monday. Saleem Altaf, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s direct of cricket affairs, said that Sami would need up to three weeks of rest.
The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Sami, who was just settling into a new senior role in the side, taking over from the injured Shoaib Akhtar in the recent series in India.
Doubt still surrounds the fitness of both Shoaib and Shabbir Ahmed. Their fitness will be assessed when the selectors meet on Monday to announce the squad for the tour which will begin on May 18 with an ODI.
