Ponting may tour India
Zac Gelman |Australian captain Ricky Ponting will most probably not miss his side’s seven match one-day series against India later this month despite reports to the contrary.
A final decision will be made early next week on whether he will fly to India with the rest of the squad or go back to Australia to prepare for the long summer of cricket ahead.
“It’s definitely signs of a mild hamstring strain, so it doesn’t look like a 6-8 week job, it’s more a 2-3 week sort of thing. We’ve decided to wait a few days. We’re not going to leave here until Tuesday, so we can have until then, but it looks like he’s going to be okay to come with us and take some part in India,” Australia’s physio Alex Kountouris told the media.
“Whether that means he misses two games, four games, five games, I’m not sure. But he’s made good improvement in the first 48 hours,” he added.
