Pakistan trio reject ICL offer
Zac Gelman |Pakistani cricketers Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Asif have all rejected lucrative offers from the Indian Cricket League according to the AFP.
The PCB will breathe a sigh of relief today after eight players signed central contracts, recommitting to their country.
“I got a very good offer but in the end I was not tempted as I have a few more years to give to Pakistan cricket which is far more important for me as a player,” Shoaib Akhtar who was apparently one of the first to sign the PCB contract, said.
New fast bowling sensation Mohammad Asif echoed his mentor’s sentiments.
“I can’t let my people down and disappoint them. I have just started my career for Pakistan and I enjoy the feeling of performing for my country. Nothing, not even money, can match that,” he said.
All-rounder Shahid Afridi also spoke about the temptation arising from the ICL offer, however he told the Pakistani media that he sees “a strong future” for himself in the Pakistan side.
