Pakistan interview Whatmore

Former Bangladesh coach, Dav Whatmore, has completed an interview with the PCB as Pakistan near the end of their search for a new national coach.

Whatmore met the three man committee today in Pakistan and told the media afterwards that the interview had gone “very well”.

“I am confident given the chance I would do my best,” Whatmore told the press after the interview had completed.

“Every team poses different challenges and Pakistan would be a challenge, but this is a great opportunity working with a good board and a good team so I am eager on this.

“Pakistan is a top team and my priority will be to help them improve and produce the best results. A good team learns from its mistakes and Pakistan will have to do that after a disappointing World Cup.”

Whatmore, who was turned down for the India job, boasts an impressive resume; leading Sri Lanka to the 1996 World Cup victory as well as overseeing Bangladesh’s recent growth in international cricket.

He joins fellow Australians Geoff Lawson and Richard Done on the shortlist of coaches for the Pakistan job, made vacant by the recent death of Bob Woolmer.
