McGrath to miss entire SA tour

Having already been ruled out of the ODI series, Glenn McGrath will now miss the entire tour to spend time with his wife Jane, who is fighting cancer for the third time.

McGrath says his wife is responding well to early treatment, and that he will probably not play cricket again this season. Although he is rightly giving priority to his family, he says he is confident of returning for the Champions Trophy in October. This would mean that he will also miss the tour of Bangladesh immediately after the South Africa tour.

McGrath’s absence will be sorely felt by the team, but gives a chance of a test comeback to Jason Gillespie or Michael Kasprowicz.
