Malinga injury scare

Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga is in doubt for their Super Eight clash with New Zealand on Friday due to an ankle injury.

Malinga who has been one of the star fast bowlers of the tournament to date having taken 15 wickets at an average of 14.26 failed to train with the team yesterday.

Captain Mahela Jayawardene said they won’t take any unnecessary risks with Malinga with it appearing as though unless he is 100% fit, he will be ruled out of the match against the Black Caps.

Sri Lanka currently sit third on the Super Eight table having played four matches for three wins and one loss.
