Malik confirmed as Pak captain

Pakistan have confirmed 26 year-old all-rounder Shoaib Malik as their new captain replacing Inzamam-ul-Haq as we reported last week.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Nasim Ashraf told reporters on the announcement that “He is a unanimous choice. He is the best man to lead the team.”

Malik replaces Inzamam-ul-Haq who captained Pakistan to their early World Cup exit after losing to minnows Ireland.

Malik has played 137 one-day internationals and 18 Test matches making his one-day debut in 1999 and his Test debut in 2001.
