Lara ton lifts Windies
Sudeep Popat |Brian Lara scored his 29th century, to level with Sir Donald Bradman, as West Indies struggled otherwise while reaching 345 all out on the first day of the first Test against Pakistan at Barbados.
Lara rescued the home side with a blistering 130, sharing a 167-run fourth wicket partnership with Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who scored 92, after they were reduced to 45 for 3.
The Windies batting faltered again though after Lara’s demise, losing their last six wickets in the final session of the day. Pakistan then raced to 22 without loss at stumps.
We apologize for a lack of detailed reporting, which will resume from Day 2’s play.
