KP injured ahead of first Test
Zac Gelman |Star England batsman, Kevin Pietersen, has suffered a calf strain whilst playing for county cricket side Hampshire, ahead of next week’s first Test against the West Indies.
The news comes as a shock to English selectors with Pietersen undoubtedly being England’s best batsman and the key to their success against the touring WIndies.
Pietersen has undergone an MRI scan and the results should reveal the extent of his injury with a further evaluation on the calf to be made later in the week.
England take on the West Indies for the first Test of the series at Lord’s and are unlikely to have the service of their captain, Michael Vaughan, after he sustained a hand injury last week.
