Kenya Crush Canada
Archie Mac |Kenya booked a place in the Final after comfortably defeating Canada by 158 runs in their ICC World Cricket League Match played at Nairobi.
Kenya won the toss and elected to bat, but found themselves in early trouble, losing both openers quickly (14-2).
Solid efforts from the middle order in particular young Tanmay Mishra who bludgeoned 62 from just 77 balls, including two sixes, lifted Kenya up to a competitive 250-9 off their allotted 50 overs.
Kenya threatened a much larger total, but were held in check by experienced speedster Henry Osinde who claimed 4-33 from ten very economical overs.
Canada in reply seemed intent on reaching the target in the quickest time possible with the first four batsmen all having a strike rate of 100 or better. Unfortunately this method proved wholly flawed, as wickets tumbled at an alarming rate.
At one stage Canada had slumped to 54-7, before veteran George Codrington (24) added some respectability, even these runs were achieved with a strike rate of 120.
This win was a real team effort by Kenya with a number of players contributing to the final victory, and should stand them in good stead for the upcoming final.
