Keep the faith says Fletcher

Former England coach Darren Fletcher has told his successor Peter Moores that he should keep the faith with Michael Vaughan for both one-day and Test cricket.

Fletcher told the BBC that “He showed the quality he has as a batsman and what he can do if he frees himself up. It’s just a pity it’s taken a little bit longer than he would have wanted.”

Vaughan has been confirmed already as Test captain for the upcoming home series against West Indies.

Fletcher is keen to continue coaching telling Sky Sports News that “I still thought I had a lot to offer, but there’ll be other things out there. I’m sure there will be.”

“I want to coach. I enjoy coaching. There’s no way I’m falling short of ideas. I still think my ideas should have been implemented and could be implemented, but you can’t implement them overnight it takes time.”

Fletcher added “I need a break for probably a month, but it was an honour coaching England. I think it is the best job in world cricket at the moment.”
