Katich to remain in Australia
James Nixon |Simon Katich is to remain in Australia after signing a five-year deal with New South Wales despite having received overseas offers.
The chief executive of Cricket NSW David Gilbert told media sources that “We’re delighted that Simon will stay in NSW. After losing his Cricket Australia contract he had other offers but his retention was a top priority for us. We’re expecting a big season from him this summer.”
Katich has played 23 Tests and 45 one-day internationals for Australia after making his debut in 2001. Katich last played for Australia against the West Indies at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur in 2006.
