Jonathan Trott and Kieron Pollard exude confidence
Ganeshbabu Venkat |Folks, Yours truly reporting from Chennai before the all important clash between West Indies and England. Got the media tag without much hassle and have to say the facilities and the media folks where absolutely incredible and very helpful. The media box in itself was state of the art and could easily hold up to 300 people.
There was the customary press conference and Jonathan Trott from England and Kieron Pollard from West Indies spoke on behalf of their teams. Trott sounded pretty confident and mentioned that England have to take this as winning four games in a row to win the cup. However there was a minor concern for England when Andrew Strauss and Graeme Swann missed training owing to a stomach bug. However Trott brushed that aside and said they should be fully fit to take the field come Thursday.
Kieron Pollard aka “the Beast” walked in to the room and answered questions with aplomb. When asked if there were any injury concerns in their camp, he said there were 15 fit players to choose from and Chris Gayle is raring to go. He also added that West Indies are relishing the opportunity to eliminate England and are looking forward to the challenge.
After that the entire media contingent in a mad rush went to the IIT-Chemplast cricket ground to watch the Indian team practice. There were literally thousand people waiting to watch them and folks let me remind you this was just a practice session. Nevertheless the Indian team decided not to show up. Tomorrow we might have the official press conference from the captains of both England and West Indies and should have more updates. Keep watching this blog.
