Is Fletcher Stale?

Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott delivered a blistering attack on current England coach Duncan Fletcher. Commenting in his Daily Telegraph column Boycott suggested that Fletcher had reached his “shelf-life” only 14 months after helping the England team regain the Ashes.

Boycott commented “Fletcher’s weakness has always been the one-day game.”

“Saturday’s latest one-day debacle has confirmed my feeling that the time has come for a change in the England dressing room.

Boycott believes that Paul Collingwood’s low place in the batting order is proof that Fletcher is not trying new things to improve England’s one day standings.

Paul Collingwood doesn’t agree with this and admits that he is “surprised and baffled” by Boycott’s comments.

“Everything is getting faster. Duncan advances like the game does. Certainly his theories do.”
