Inzaman hints at Asif return
James Nixon |Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif is looking likely to play the fourth and final Test starting tomorrow at The Oval with Inzmaman-ul-Haq hinting that he will return.
Asif and fellow fast bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan returned to England earlier this week after over coming their injuries in Pakistan.
Asif managed to play a few games in Pakistan to return to match fitness.
Naved-ul-Hasan meanwhile has not returned to a sufficient level of fitness to be considered for the fourth Test, and is now likely to make his return in the one-day series that follows.
Inzmaman said, “Maybe Asif will play. He is bowling well and is 100% fit after playing two games in Pakistan.”
“He bowls a good line and length, is an attacking bowler – that’s the main thing – and in the last couple of years he has performed well. He knows how to take wickets.”
Inzmaman went on to say “We want to play six regular batsmen, three genuine fast bowlers and Danish.” This is likely to mean that all-rounders Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq both miss out on selection with the selectors looking for a more balanced lineup.
Shoaib Akhtar meanwhile is definitely out of the Test and is not being considered.
England have an unbeatable 2-0 lead going into the match.
