India eye on 2011 World Cup bid

India has expressed an interest in bidding for the 2011 World Cup, the president of the Indian board announced today.

Ranbir Mahendra, the president of the board told news media that their had been no formal discussions with Pakistan or Sri Lanka about the possibility of it being a joint bid.

India will face competition from Australia and New Zealand who have also expressed an interest in holding the 2001 World Cup.
