ICC names Super Series squads

It is set to be a true cricketing spectacle, and now there are names to further whet the appetite of the masses. Indeed, the World XI squads for the upcoming ICC Super Series against Australia have been named.

Names such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Brian Lara, Jacques Kallis and Michael Vaughan feature in the cluster of batting stars, whilst Shaun Pollock, Shoaib Akhtar, Muttiah Muralitharan and Steve Harmison will expectedly do damage with the ball.

For the One Day matches, the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi are among the bighitting additions. Some of the notable absentees from the squads are Chaminda Vaas, Andrew Strauss and VVS Laxman.

A squad of 14 will be selected from the pool for the ODI series in mid-August, whilst 13 will be selected for the Sydney Super Test.

The Super Series will be played in Australia this October.
