Hoggard, Anderson back in squad

With the series under wraps, England have made two changes to their squad for the final Test at Chester-le-Street with Matthew Hoggard and James Anderson returning at the expense of the wayward Liam Plunkett.

The twelve man squad that was announced today, sees the return of Hoggard from a groin injury sustained in the first Test against the West Indies at Lord’s. He was confident of being fit for the Old Trafford Test but was ruled out in the last minute.

Anderson is a surprise recall and hasn’t played a Test since the Ashes whitewash in Australia. He replaces the out of form Plunkett who was not used by his captain on the final day of England’s 60 run victory over the West Indies at Old Trafford.

The final match of the four Test series will begin on Friday at Chester-le-Street, with England already having secured the Wisden Trophy after yesterday’s win.

England squad:Michael Vaughan, James Anderson, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Stephen Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Monty Panesar, Ryan Sidebottom, Andrew Strauss.
