Hayden breaks finger in Pura Cup

Australian Test opener Matthew Hayden broke his finger while batting for Queensland in their recent Pura Cup match against Tasmania.

Hayden under-went a scan which showed a a minor undisplaced fracture of his little finger on his left hand.

The Queensland medical staff have therefore made Hayden unavailable for their upcoming matches against New South Wales in the Ford Ranger and Pura Cup matches.

The Queensland medical director told Cricket Australia that “in making that decision, it needs to be stated that the injury does not place hihm in any doubt for the first Test match.”

Hayden’s lead in to the Ashes will now include one Pura Cup and two Ford Ranger Cup matches before the first Ashes Test starts in Brisbane on 23rd November.
