Harmy requires hernia operation

England fast bowler Steve Harmison requires a non-serious hernia operation the ECB have said but it is unlikely to affect his bowling.

England spokesman Andrew Walpole told media on the fifth day of the fourth Test at Chester-le-Street that “Steve Harmison has a non-serious hernia and he will require surgery at some stage. The injury is not currently affecting his bowling at this time.”

Walpole went onto say “The timing of the surgery will be decided by the England medical team. We haven’t pulled him out of the semi-final between Durham and Essex in the FP Trophy. That decision will be made at the end of the test match (yet).”

With Harmison having retired from one-day international cricket, his possible next international outing would be the first Test against India at Lord’s on 19th July.
