Gillespie Injury Concern
Sean Fuller |Jason Gillespie’s woes on his third Ashes tour have continued, as he was forced to pull out of a team training session on Tuesday due to pain behind his knees. The Australian camp played down the injury scare, claiming that he would be training fully on the day before the test, but nevertheless it is another setback for Gillespie as he competes for the second and third seamer positions with Brett Lee and Michael Kasprowicz.
Gillespie struggled during the NatWest Series before finally putting in a strong performance in the final match of the NatWest Challenge at The Oval. After a pair of wickets and some good spells in the tour match at Grace Road he appeared to be the front-runner along with Brett Lee to appear in the first test, but this injury scare may propel Michael Kasprowicz into the test side and relieve the Australians of a selection dilemma.
