Gibbs appeal date set
Zac Gelman |Herschelle Gibbs’ appeal against a two match ban for breaching the ICC code of conduct will be held tomorrow. Gibbs was charged for making derogatory comments regarding Pakistani members of the crowd.
Richie Benaud, former Australian captain turned much respected commentator will hear the appeal via telephone. He has the authority to increase, decrease or remove the ban, with his decision being final.
Gibbs comments were picked up by the stump microphone during the first Test between South Africa and Pakistan.
He was later charged with breaching the ICC code of conduct that prohibits “any language or gestures that offends, insults, humiliates, intimidates, threatens, disparages or vilifies another person on the basis of that person’s race, religion, colour, descent or national or ethic origin”.
