Gayle not happy with curfew

West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has grudgingly accepted an 11:30pm team curfew that has been introduced following the West Indies Cricket Board being unhappy with the teams discipline during the World Cup.

Gayle told media “I wouldn’t agree with a curfew – but it is a team rule and policy, so you have to go along with it. There have been a few changes – there always are in life and cricket – and the curfew is there to try to keep the guys on their toes and get the best out of them.”

Gayle went onto say “If it was in my hands I would let the guys be more free and do what they want to do. I’m just speaking for myself – that is my point of view. You just have to accept it and hope it works.”

Gayle is one of the most experienced members of the squad that has a new captain in Ramnaresh Sarwan and a new coach in David Moore.

The West Indies have had a disappointing start to their tour to date, with the weather not helping them with only 48.4 overs being possible during their recent three-day game against Somerset.

The first Test starts at Lord’s on Thursday.
