Even if you don’t opt to take charge of one of these when you start your managerial career, the chances are if you are successful at club level you will be offered an international job. With this in mind, a lot of work has been put into making international management exciting.

International competitions consist of the World Cup, Champions Trophy and a whole host of test and one day tours. The aim is to win as many test and one day matches as possible to ensure you rise in both the test and one day international rankings tables – failure to do so could place your job in jeopardy.

With the variety of locations you’ll be playing at, it will be essential to select the right balance with regards to your squad. You will be forced to make the difficult decisions over whether to select an extra spinner or perhaps an extra batsman when touring the subcontinent for example. Your selections should be based both upon skill ratings and also the form and fitness of a player – picking an excellent player might not be the best idea if he is low on form and fitness!
