Flintoff may be fit for ODIs
Zac Gelman |England’s Andrew Flintoff is hoping to be fully fit and recovered in time for his countries one-day series against India next month.
Flintoff told the media today that he is itching to get back into the side and although he most probably won’t make it back in time for the three match Test series staring on Thursday at Lord’s, he would be a good chance for the seven match one-day series against India in August.
“In terms of exact dates, it is hard to say. I hope to play a part against India, but the one-dayers are a more realistic target,” said the all-rounder who is recovering from ankle surgery.
“The impatience is starting now. I’ve been back in the nets and I’ve been hitting them all right. Because I’m running now, doing proper things and working towards something, I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I have a temptation to get impatient.
“During the winter there was a clear dip in form and I want to get it back. The bowling was fine but I still think, no matter what I do with the ball, as a top-six batsman I will always get judged on the runs I score.”
The seven match ODI series against India starts in Southampton on August 21st.
