Fleming to pass Arjun Ranatunga
James Nixon |Stephen Fleming will break the one-day international captaincy record when New Zealand play Pakistan next week in the Champions Trophy.
Fleming will over-take former Sri Lankan captain Arjun Ranatunga’s captaincy record of 194 one-day internationals and says he’s enjoying the captaincy more than ever and has a burning ambition of lifting the World Cup in the Caribbean next year.
Fleming says his biggest worry is the inconsistency in big tournaments and the fact that injuries continue to hurt the side, and there simply aren’t the resources to come in like Australia, India and England have.
Fleming’s one-day international captaincy record is 85 wins and 95 losses, along with winning 47% of tosses. He averages 32.18 from 255 matches with six hundreds and 44 fifties.
