Emburey rules himself out

John Emburey has ruled himself out of the running for the Indian coaching role after committing himself to his role as Middlesex director of cricket.

This follows Graham Ford’s decision to turn down the role after deciding to continue as director of cricket at English county side Kent.

A statement released by Middlesex read “John would like to emphasise that at no point was he offered the role as India coach and would like to thank the BCCI for the opportunity to interview for the position.”

Emburey commented on the announcement saying “I have just got my teeth into a big new challenge at Middlesex and want to stay to complete the job and extend my 36-year association with the club.”

Former player Chandu Borde has been named as an interim coach for India’s upcoming tours of Ireland, Scotland and England.
