Easy win for tigers

Bangladesh followed their victory over New Zealand by beating Scotland by seven wickets in Barbados.

Today’s victory will not be one as celebrated, but it was still a good performance by the Bangladeshis. Their bowling attack proved too strong for Scotland, who struggled to 152-9 from their 50 overs.

Scotland were never really able to get going. They failed to put any partnerships together, and the highest scorer was Warwickshire’s Navdeep Poonia, with 32. They did make a solid enough start, reaching 58-1. Bangladesh shut them down in the middle overs. The left arm spin duo of Abdur Razzak and Mohammad Rafique shared five wickets between them, as Scotland’s lower and middle order put out a poor performance.

With just 153 the target, Bangladesh made a poor start. They lost two early wickets to slip to 7-2 and give Scotland some hope. Aftab Ahmed was also forced to retire hurt on 19, but after that Saqibul Hasan and Habibul Bashar took away any Scottish hope.

They shared a good stand to take Bangladesh to within 50 of the target, when Saqibul fell to Dougie Brown. Bashar and Mohammad Ashraful added the rest of the runs with little trouble, to give their side a comfortable win.
