Donald’s England role extended

Alan Donald’s role as England bowling coach advisor has been extended until the end of the Twenty20 World Cup.

Donald only initially had a five week contract which was due to expire at the end of the West Indies one-day series.

Donald told the AFP said he was very keen to continue saying “I’ve greatly enjoyed my time working with the England fast bowlers and am delighted to be staying on in the role until September.”

Donald went onto say “We have an exciting crop of bowlers in the England ranks and I’m looking forward to continue working with them for the remainder of the summer and the first tour of the winter.”

A series of England players gave their thoughts on Donald’s extension with captain Paul Collingwood telling the BBC “AD is a very passionate guy and speaks his mind, which is fantastic, because he has a hell of a lot of knowledge.”

Stuart Broad also told the BBC that “He has made it clear that we need to bowl with aggression throughout the innings and, whatever lengths we’re bowling, we need to bowl them hard. The guys feel like they are still moving in the right direction.”
