Dalrymple in line for Test debut
James Nixon |Jamie Dalrymple, the Middlesex all-rounder is expected to make his Test debut against Australia in Sydney for the fifth Test.
Dalrymple replaced Ashely Giles in the squad after Giles returned home to care for his ill wife.
Dalrymple has played 14 one-day internationals and averaged 27.25 with the bat and taken 11 wickets at an average of 37.09.
If Dalrymple does play, it will be the first time since 1991 that England have played two spinners in Australia.
Flintoff told the BBC “Jamie is a good all-round package. He’s shown that in the one-dayers.”
“He’s performed well with the ball and got important runs. He’s obviously a fine bowler and a capable batsman too.”
