Chappell questions India’s plans

Ex-Indian coach, Greg Chappell, has criticised India’s schedule in Australia later this year, saying the one tour match before the Tests will not be enough.

The first Test takes place in Melbourne for the traditional Boxing Day match at the MCG, but prior to that India will only have one three-day tour match, against Victoria, to acclimatise to the Australian conditions.

“The more time you’ve got the better, but programs in modern cricket just don’t allow for it and international cricketers are used to it,” the former Australian captain told the Melbourne newspaper, The Age.

“If you had a month and you could play four games, that would be perfect, but the modern programs don’t allow for it. That’s the way it is, so the players just have to adjust as quickly as they can. It’s not ideal.”

India will start the four match Test series in Australia just two weeks after an arduous Test and ODI series against Pakistan in India are completed.
