Cairns Confirms Retirement
Richard Edmunds |As had been predicted by many sources in the last few hours, Chris Cairns today announced his retirement from international cricket with his final match being the Twenty20 international against the West Indies at Eden Park next month.
The champion all-rounder, who is within 50 runs of joining the 5000 run/200 wicket club in ODIs, said a loss of enjoyment is the reason behind his decision.
He will play to the end of the domestic season with the Canterbury Wizards, before heading to England, where he will follow business interests and play league cricket.
