Cairns awarded honour
Andrew Marmont |Allrounder Chris Cairns has been inducted as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the sport.
The royal award is given for distinguished service in any field of endeavour.
Cairns began his career in the 1989/1990 season however has been plagued by recurring injuries. He has since played 62 tests and 204 one-day internationals. Cairns is only the sixth man to have achieved the double of 200 wickets and 3000 runs in test matches. He continues to be a vital member of the one-day side.
