Bucknor to reach 100 Tests
Alex Feeney |Steve Bucknor will become the first umpire to officiate 100 tests when he walks out onto the field for the second Test match between India and Pakistan in Kolkota on March 16. The ICC will recognise this unique achievement by awarding him the Golden Bails award.
Bucknor, 58, began his umpiring career in 1989 when he oversaw the 4th Test between the West Indies and India in Kingston, Jamaica. Bucknor has also stood for a total of 131 ODIs, including four World Cup finals. David Shepard, 64, is the second most experienced umpire in the world having stood for 86 Tests, while S Venkataraghavan is third on the list with 73 Tests.
