Bravo likely to miss ODI series
Liam Camps |Talismanic allrounder Dwayne Bravo may miss the rest of the One Day International series against New Zealand, which the West Indies currently trails 1-0. Bravo sustained a side strain during the Twenty20 tour opener last Thursday, and was forced to miss the first match of the ODI series two days later, which New Zealand won by 81 runs.
Bravo, 22, is a major player in the fortunes of the West Indies team. A genuine allrounder, he adds energy in the field, sharp and intelligent bowling, and exciting batting to the potency of any West Indian challenge. On the tour of Australia in late 2005, Bravo was particularly outstanding, scoring a century and taking a 6-wicket haul in the two Tests he participated in.
Bravo has played 32 ODI matches, taking 31 wickets (36.51) and scoring 313 runs (18.41) in that time. Reports suggest that he will be fit for the three-Test series to follow the limited overs contest.
