Benson taken to hospital

England umpire Mark Benson has been taken to a South African hospital after suffering heart palpitations during the second Test between South Africa and India in Kingsmead.

Benson left the field of play after the first ball of the fourth over during the third day.

The reserve umpire Ian Howell of South Africa has replaced Benson out in the middle.

A Cricket South Africa spokesman commented on Benson’s condition saying he had been taken to hospital for an electrocardiogram, but it was only as a precautionary measure.
