BCCI asks for shorter WI tour

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has made a formal request to the WICB (West Indies Cricket Board) that the length of India’s upcoming tour of the Caribbean be reduced.

The Indian board would like the series to be reduced from the currently schedule four Tests to three. The five One Day Internationals will expectedly come off as scheduled. According to Shashank Manohar, the chairman of the Fixtures Committee, “India are already playing enough matches there (in the West Indies).”

Following the cancellation of the Zimbabwe leg of the West Indies’ international home season, the WICB stands to lose further financially pending this latest move. This, especially as India are fan favourites in the Caribbean.

The tour starts on May 15th and runs until the 5th of July.
