Akhtar ruled out of Asia/Africa

Shoaib Akhtar has been dropped from the upcoming Asia/Africa Cup because of a lack of a fitness due to not having recovered from his knee injury.

Mohsin Khan who is one of the selectors of the Asian XI said “We have dropped Shoaib Akhtar from Asia’s squad because it has been reliably learnt that he is facing fitness problems.”

Khan went onto say “If a player doesn’t think himself to be fit enough to play for his own country then how can he play for any other team.”

The series gets under underway on 5th June in Bangalore where a Twenty20 international is played followed by three one-day internationals on 6th/9th/10th June.
