Geoff Lawson to coach Pakistan
Michelle Hamberger |The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have chosen former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson ahead of fellow Australians Dav Whatmore and Richard Done to succeed the late Bob Woolmer to coach Pakistan. The PCB are in final negotiations with Lawson, and the appointment will be formally announced when the PCB committee meets on Monday.
While Whatmore, who has successfully coached Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was thought to be the front-runner, interest swung towards Lawson after he received positive feedback from the players and team management.
Lawson, an optometrist by training, played 46 Tests and 79 ODI’s for Australia over 10 years from 1980-81. He took 180 Test wickets.
As Lawson recently commented to the Sydney Morning Herald “There’s a lot of talent there to work with. It’s an exciting prospect.”
Hi Michelle
Remember me? I was that old records manager that used to love talking cricket with you.
Cheers
Ken
