Sidebottom happy with selection
Lee Payne |Ryan Sidebottom played one test match and two one day internationals for England in 2001, with respectable performances in all of them. However, he was not selected again for six years until new coach Peter Moores called him up for the second test against the West Indies at Headingley – and he has not looked back since.
The Nottinghamshire fast bowler took sixteen wickets in the series as England thumped the tourists and has now earned himself a place in the one day squad for two Twenty20 Internationals and three one day internationals against the same team.
Sidebottom made the pain-staking decision to leave his beloved Yorkshire for Nottinghamshire in 2004, but he now believes his decision aided his England recall.
He told the Nottingham Evening Post: “It was a great move going to Notts, really. It was gut-wrenching and took time taking the decision to leave Yorkshire. But it’s been a good move, and Notts have been fantastic.”
Sidebottom has now set his sights on maitaining a regular place in the side.
