Chris Martin replaces Tuffey

The Black Caps have replaced the injured Daryl Tuffey with Chris Martin in their World Cup squad after Tuffey injured his right arm during the Black Caps match against Canada.

Chris Martin’s inclusion was approved by the International Cricket Council after a medical report showed the injury to Tuffey’s right bicep was serious.

Martin has played nine one-day internationals for New Zealand for a return of 11 wickets at an average of 36.09 and last played against Sri Lanka in January 2006.

New Zealand have further injuries to contend with as well, with Mark Gillespie having still not featured in the World Cup due to a shoulder problem. He has been given until next Sunday to prove his fitness, otherwise he is expected to be replaced in the squad.

Ross Taylor who suffered a hamstring injury during the win over Kenya is still struggling with the injury but is expected to be fine come the Black Caps first Super Eight game against the West Indies this coming Thursday in Antigua.
