McMillan in doubt

New Zealand all-rounder Craig McMillan is uncertain for tomorrow’s blockbuster clash against England after suffering a bruised toe during a training session today.

The big tow in his right foot was injured after being hit by a Shane Bond yorker. He was taken to hospital were scans revealed no broken bones but heavy bruising around the toe.

A New Zealand spokesman confirmed the injury saying McMillan would be a 50-50 chance to play against England.

“Fortunately, it’s the end of his toe and not the joint which would have been much worse news,” he said.

“Right now, he’s walking around without too much pain.”

The Black Caps have had their fair share of injury woes during the tournament so far, with Mark Gillespie suffering from a virus and Peter Fulton recovering from a broken finger.

New Zealand take on England in St Lucia tomorrow, for their opening game of the World Cup.
