Flower brothers rule out return

Andy and Grant Flower have both ruled out a return to international cricket for the World Cup in the Caribbean next month citing continuing problems with the current administration.

The news comes contrary to rumours that some Zimbabwe cricket officials were trying to lure the brothers back for cricket’s biggest event.

“I walked away because of the state of affairs and not much has changed,” Andy said.

“Since then it has gone further downhill. I don’t believe things will change unless the government changes, so that’s the stage we are at.”

Andy played 63 Tests and 213 ODIs for Zimbabwe averaging 51.54 and 35.34 respectively whilst Grant played 67 Tests and 219 ODIs averaging 29.54 and 33.69 runs.
